A tractor-trailer overturned off the East Loop 289 and Southeast Drive, trapping one person for more than two hours, police said Monday evening.
Emergency crews responded to the crash around 6:20 p.m. Monday near the East 50th Street exit of Loop 289.
Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to pry open the vehicle and free a person inside, who was transported to a hospital by EMS.
The driver was trapped inside the tractor-trailer until he was extracted around 8:42 p.m. with the help of multiple emergency responders.
A man who witnessed the crash said the truck was traveling south on Loop 289 when it crossed over the median into northbound lanes, then off onto a hill where it rolled over.
The witness said when he and others went to help the driver, he was responsive to questions.
Guard rail damage was reported, police said. The Texas Department of Transportation was contacted to assess the damage.
The man’s condition was unknown as of Monday night. Crews were still on scene at 10 p.m. getting the tractor-trailer off the hill.
