A damaged water line has forced a traffic detour in a a portion of Central Lubbock.
The area of concern is 54th Street and Quaker Avenue.
The City of Lubbock said a private contractor hit the water line Sunday afternoon.
City officials said traffic will remain detoured until the water line and roadway are repaired.
Drivers were being urged to avoid the area and to drive with caution while near the work area.
