WHAT:
The Texas Tech University School of Law will host the Texas State Seventh Court of Appeals, which will hear oral arguments.
WHEN:
10 a.m. Monday (Oct. 30)
WHERE:
Hunt Courtroom, Texas Tech School of Law, 1802 Hartford Ave.
EVENT:
Texas Tech School of Law students and the general public are invited to view oral arguments before the Seventh Court of Appeals, which usually presides in Amarillo.
The court, which consists of Chief Justice Brian Quinn and Justices James T. Campbell, Judy Parker and Patrick A. Pirtle, has intermediate appellate jurisdiction over civil and criminal cases appealed from lower courts in 46 Texas counties.
Chief Justice Quinn (1981) and Justices Parker (1985) and Pirtle (1977) earned their jurisdoctorates from the Texas Tech School of Law. Justices Campbell and Pirtle also earned their bachelor’s degrees from Texas Tech.
Several Texas Tech Law School alumni will be arguing cases before the court – Aaron R. Clements (1996) with Hurley & Guinn and Jeffrey S. Ford (2007) and Justin M. Stevens (2017) with the Lubbock County District Attorney’s office.
Photos are allowed, as long as they do not disrupt court proceedings. Filming or recording the proceedings is not allowed.
