A Lubbock County grand jury on Tuesday indicted Miguel Garza and Anthony Alvarez for the murder of Jimmy Hernandez-Rodriguez.

An arrest warrant was issued for Garza and Alvarez after the January 16 shooting of Hernandez-Rodriguez at 37th Street and Avenue P.

Garza told police that Alvarez was driving an SUV.  Garza and another man were passengers. Garza told police that he noticed Hernandez-Rodriguez.  Alvarez stopped the SUV, and Garza got out of the SUV with a gun and fired shots.  Garza said Alvarez supplied the gun, but Alvarez denied it, according to the arrest warrant.

After the shooting, Garza got back into the SUV and it drove off.  Police got the call of shots fired just after 4:00 pm.

Garza and Alvarez both remained in the Lubbock County Detention Center on Tuesday in lieu of bonds totaling more than $200,000.
