TxDOT kicks off “Be Safe. Drive Smart” campaign for summer

LUBBOCK, Texas — With it officially being summer, the Texas Department of Transportation has kicked off its “Drive Safe. Be Smart” campaign.

Traveling long distances across the Lone Star State can put drivers at risk of falling asleep, getting distracted or becoming impatient.


That’s why the Texas Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to stay alert and avoid drowsy or aggressive driving while behind the wheel this summer.

Summertime in Texas is the height of travel season, which means scores of people will be hitting the highways for long road trips, state park visits or lazy lake days.
