TxDOT set to begin traffic signal project in Denver City in early July

The following is a news release from TxDOT:

TxDOT is scheduled to begin work on a project that will install traffic signals at the SH 83/SH 214 intersection in Denver City. The $218,450 project is being funded through state, Denver City, and Yoakum County resources.

Contractor Willis Electric Co. LP, of Abilene, Texas, will begin setting up traffic control along the project limits starting July 5, with work beginning Monday, July 9. Project improvements include new traffic signals and signal poles. The new traffic signals will include the flashing yellow left turn arrows. Similar traffic signals were installed on SH 83 at the FM 2055 (Main Street) and Mustang Street intersections earlier this year.

The signal project will have a minimal impact on traffic, but drivers should anticipate brief, minor lane closures. Motorists are advised to slow down and watch out for construction equipment and workers who will be working along the right of way and in close proximity to traffic.

Message boards will be placed to notify motorists of the upcoming signal work.

Work will take place weather permitting. The project is scheduled to be completed in late August.
