University Medical Center EMS has sent nine paramedics and its ambus, or ambulance bus, to San Antonio to help assist with emergency response from Hurricane Harvey.

Scheduled deployment is estimated to be three to five days.

The ambus is one of 13 in Texas and part of a statewide emergency response network.

It typically serves the South Plains and Texas Panhandle but can be deployed elsewhere if needed.

The ambus can hold approximately 20 patients.
