A grand jury indicted Robert Lee Sapia, 31, of Lubbock County for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
According to court records, in July, a girl made an outcry of sexual abuse and said she had been forced by Sapia to engage in a number of sexual behaviors for five to six years. The girl’s mom took her to the University Medical Center Emergency room. From there investigators with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office were called.
Investigators confronted Sapia and he denied wrongdoing. Investigators confronted Sapia with evidence including bedsheets and items of clothing.
According to court records, Sapia broke down under questioning and asked, “How much time am I looking at?” Sapia said he wanted a lawyer and the conversation with investigators stopped.
Investigators also talked to the girl who went into details about what happened over the years.
Sapia was arrested on July 17. As of Tuesday, he was held on a bond of $250,000.
