A grand jury on Tuesday indicted John Gabriel Trevino, 33, of Lubbock for sexual assault of a child.
Police were called in mid-April after officials with a local high school informed a girl’s father that the girl was pregnant. Police talked to the girl and she said she was pregnant by “an old guy.”
Court records said the girl told police that she informed Trevino of her age and he was “okay with her age and he would accept the consequences.”
She told police that she spent time with Trevino over the course of a couple months. She told police that they would watch movies together and he waited until she was ready to have sex.
Police found text messages where Trevino was asking if the girl was pregnant because he wanted to “take care of his responsibilities.”
Trevino was arrested in May. He remained in the Lubbock County Detention Center on Tuesday on a $30,000 bond. His booking sheet indicated theft charges and a parole violation.
