Job statistics released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission showed Lubbock’s unemployment rate rose during the month of June.
The local unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, up from 3.2 percent in May.
An estimated 154,200 residents in the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area (MSA) were employed last month.
The Texas Workforce Commission said the Amarillo MSA and Austin-Round Rock MSA both tied the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.4 percent.
The McAllen-Edinburg-Mission MSA had the highest unemployment rate at 8.3 percent.
The unemployment rate in Texas dropped to 4.6 percent in June.
