The Texas Tech University Career Center has announced its event lineup for spring 2017. Events include résumé critique days held throughout the semester and job fairs that cater to those with interests in teaching, nonprofit work and summer camp jobs.

The University Career Center’s major events for the semester include an etiquette dinner, a mocktail party and an all-majors job fair.

“The University Career Center offers a wide variety of events to meet students where they are in their career development process,” said Jay Killough, managing director of the University Career Center. “Some events focus more on professionalism and etiquette, while other events are designed to assist students with individual needs, such as our résumé critique days.”

The spring etiquette dinner is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 7) at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center. The dinner will cover topics of appropriate utensil and dish usage, when to begin eating and how to properly pass food. Business casual dress is recommended, but not required. Registration and more information on the event are available here.

The spring mocktail party is 5 to 7 p.m. March 8 at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center. The event is presented by a professional etiquette trainer and offers students the opportunity to gather insight into a typical professional networking reception. Professional attire is required. Registration and more information on the event are available here.

The all-majors job fair is 12 to 4 p.m. April 5 in the Student Union Building’s Ballroom. The fair gives students the opportunity to connect with prospective employers and will offer free headshots. Business professional dress is encouraged. Registration and more information on the event are available here.

“We want to assist students any way we can in regard to their future career or graduate school decisions,” Killough said. “We encourage students to attend our events, but they can also schedule a one-on-one meeting with our career 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.”
