Investigators with the Lubbock Police Department’s Person Crimes Unit are investigating a shooting that left one person in critical but stable condition.
On Friday, September 15th, at 10:45 p.m., Lubbock Police Officers heard gun shots in the area of 13th and Avenue O.
Shortly after the shots were heard by officers, dispatchers received a call at 10:49 p.m. about a stabbing in the 1600 block of Avenue M.
Once officers arrived on scene, they located the victim, 36-year-old Sergio Nevarez-Rodriguez, with a gunshot wound.
An ambulance was called to the scene and Nevarez-Rodriguez was transported to UMC. He is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.
Through the course of the investigation, officers were able to determine Nevarez-Rodriguez was the only victim and that no stabbing had occurred.
Officers were not able to locate the suspect.
Investigators are asking that anyone with any information surrounding the shooting to please call Crime Line at 741-1000.
An investigation is underway.
