Update

LUBBOCK, Texas– The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is investigating after a woman was killed and a man was injured in a shooting overnight.

According to Lubbock Police, officers and EMS responded to a home in the 2700 block of East 2nd Street just before midnight on Sunday, finding 37-year-old Cassie Oden suffering from life-threatening injuries inside a parked car.

LPD said despite efforts by first responders, Oden died at the scene just after midnight. Another passenger, 24-year-old Preston Beadman, was driven to the hospital in a private car to be treated for moderate injuries. 

After some investigation, LPD discovered the shooting happened in the 400 block of MLK Boulevard. LPD said someone fired several shots at the car Oden and three other people were riding in. They sped away to escape, driving to the home on East 2nd St. 

LPD said no arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation

Lubbock Police are investigating an overnight shooting in the 2700 block of East 2nd Street. 

Police and EMS responded to reports of a person seriously injured in the area around midnight on Monday. 

LPD officers at the scene told our crew a person had died. The Lubbock Police desk could only confirm one person had serious injuries.
