Below is a news release from Lubbock Police concerning the accident:
At approximately 10:45 a.m., an officer working a call in the area of 2400 32nd Street witnessed a green car chasing a Buick SUV. The officer attempted to catch up to the vehicles, however by that point the SUV had already crashed into a tree and a home in the 2300 block of 32nd Street.
Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to the scene with the JAWS to get the female SUV driver out of the vehicle. She was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Through the initial investigation, it appears the driver of the SUV used counterfeit money to purchase a cell phone from a male. The female then got in her vehicle and fled the scene. The male got into a green car and then began chasing the female.
