The City of Lubbock Veterans Advisory Committee and Interim Healthcare Foundation invite area veterans, active military and their families to attend the West Texas Salute to Veterans on Saturday March 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel located at 3201 S. Loop 289. The purpose of this free event is to show appreciation to our military service members, veterans, and their families and provide them with information on services such as health, education and employment.
The West Texas Salute to Veterans will begin with an opening ceremony with a Color Guard presentation. Keynote Speaker Ron Milam, PhD, Professor of Viet Nam history at Texas Tech University, will address the conference attendees. Following his presentation, veterans will have a variety of breakout sessions to attend. There will be a children’s area consisting of a paint ball gallery, two magic shows, an emergency vehicle display, and prize drawings.Refreshments for the break will be provided by Bahama Bucks. Lunch will be provided by Lubbock National Bank, and the final breakout session will end at 2:00 p.m. There will also be a number of information tables, which will be hosted by organizations who provide services to veterans, active military and their families. There will be an All-Military Service Reunion, underwritten by Lubbock National Bank, held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will feature a cash bar and snacks. The event will end at 4:00 p.m.
Spartan Transportation will provide a ride to and from the event for veterans residing in the following counties: Bailey, Lamb, Hale, Floyd, Motley, Dickens, King, Cochran, Hockley, Rural Lubbock, Crosby, Yoakum, Terry, Lynn, Garza, Scurry and Mitchell.
