Several Lubbock area locations of Starbucks will close at 2:30 pm Tuesday for racial bias training. According to the Starbucks website, they include:
- 80th Street and University Avenue
- 82nd Street and Quaker Avenue
- University Avenue and Mac Davis Lane
- 4th Street and Slide Road
- 98th Street and Slide Road
- Marsha Sharp Freeway and Milwaukee Avenue
However, locations that are nested within other stores will not close at 2:30. For example, those would be Starbucks locations inside United Supermarkets, Target and the airport.
The company announced bias training for its employees after the arrest of two black men inside a Philadelphia Starbucks location in April.
Video of the incident showed the arrest of Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson after a store manager called 911.
