We have some sad news to pass along, one of our former “Wish Wednesday” kids has lost his battle with a rare disease.
Barclay Weikel died Sunday, he fought the disease his whole life. Barclay wished to go to Disney World so The Make-A-Wish Foundation made that happen this summer.
“He is a big Spider-Man fan,” said Briley, Barclay’s sister. Her little brother Barclay will forever be her superhero.
Barclay fought more battles in his life than most of us can ever imagine.
“Barclay is so special he just has such a great personality. He’s just special. We’re so blessed that God blessed us with him,” said Deborah Kent, Barclay’s grandmother.
Barclay always brought a smile and joy to those around him.
He was in for a big surprise this summer when the Make-A-Wish Foundation sent him and his family to Disney World.
“He had such an amazing time, he had the time of his life, he smiled and laughed, it was just great,” said Billy Weikel, Barclay’s dad.
It was a time the whole family will be able to cherish the memories made.
“Barclay had the time of his life. I’ve never seen him grin and laugh so much as he did there. It was such a happy place for him, it was all happy,” said Deborah.
His little sister Briley showered him with love.
“Kissy face right here, right here kissy face, that’s a kissy face,” said Briley.
Barclay leaves behind a legacy of true perseverance and inspiration. He was just 5-years-old.
