The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday released information about a house fire in Lockney Monday morning.  A woman was inside the house at the time, FCSO said, and she later died at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Sergeant Ruben DeLeon told EverythingLubbock.com that deputies were initially called to the resident in the 700 block of Southwest Third Street because a woman locked her mother out of the house.

DeLeon said when deputies arrived they saw the house was fire.  Firefighters got the woman out of the home and she was transported to UMC.

When asked if the fire was intentional or if it was just a case of bad timing, Deleon said that question was still under investigation.  The name of the woman has not been released.  The house was described as a complete loss.

DeLeon said he could not reveal if deputies had been previously called to the home for reports of trouble. The state fire marshal’s office has been asked to assist.
