Woman killed in crash during fog Tuesday morning, DPS says

The Texas Department of Public Safety said a Houston woman died as the result of a three-vehicle crash 10 miles south of Seminole.  The crash was Tuesday at 6:00 a.m.  DPS released information late Thursday morning.

Kellie N. McEvoy, 29, of Houston was driving a car north on FM 1788.  DPS said McEvoy tried to pass an 18-wheeler, when her car hit a pickup truck that was going south. Debris from the crash went through the windshield of the 18-wheeler.


McEvoy was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the pickup truck, Oscar Chavez-Anchondo, 33, of Hobbs, was taken to Seminole Memorial Hospital.  So was his passenger, Eric G. Mendoza, 33. 

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Anthony Billings, 62, of Gardendale, was also taken to Seminole Memorial Hospital

Except for McEvoy, all of the injuries were described as non-incapacitating.  DPS said conditions were wet and there was fog.  

* Note: the original statement from DPS listed McEvoy as 39 years old. DPS provided an update saying she was 29.
