The following is a news release from TxDOT:
Work to reconstruct the US 83/SH214/FM 2056 intersection, located just south of Denver City in Gaines County, is set to begin this week and will require FM 2056, from FM 2055 to US 83/SH 214, to be closed to traffic. The closure will provide contractor James Hamilton Construction the space needed to safely perform the work.
Work during this first phase of construction—to rebuild the intersection, add passing and turning lanes, and construct acceleration and deceleration lanes—is expected to take at several months to complete, but it will only require FM 2056 to be closed for approximately two months. Traffic will be detoured around the area. Drivers will need to follow the posted detours.
Improvements being made to the intersection are part of the $37.5 million project to add passing lanes to SH 214 in Yoakum and Gaines counties. Work will take place weather permitting.
