The following is a news release from TxDOT:

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to pave the northbound US 385 lanes, between FM 41 and FM 1585 in Hockley County, beginning Monday, Feb. 25. Work to pave northbound US 385 is expected to take up to two weeks to complete; weather permitting.

To safely perform the work, the paving operation will require project contractor A.L. Helmcamp, Inc. to close the northbound lane to traffic and guide all traffic, both north- and southbound, through the work zone via pilot car.

No overnight closures are planned.

Motorists should expect delays and are urged to use caution when driving through the work zone, since crews will be working in close proximity to traffic and should keep the following tips in mind:

Slow down and always follow posted work zone speed limits. Speeding is one of the major causes of work zone crashes. Remember, traffic fines double in work zones.

Pay attention. Workers and heavy equipment may only be a few feet from passing vehicles.

Be patient. Delays from roadway construction can be frustrating, but it only takes a few extra minutes to slow down for a work zone.

The work is part of a $27.6 million project adding passing lanes to US 385 in Terry and Hockley counties.
