Xcel Energy crews continue power restoration efforts in Crosby County

Xcel Energy crews on Saturday continued their work to restore electricity to customers in Crosby County following a severe thunderstorm Friday evening.

The storm caused extensive damage and power outages in parts of the area as it moved through Ralls and Crosbyton.

Xcel Energy said late Friday evening approximately 2,400 customers were without power and it was estimated service would be restored by Saturday afternoon.

Wes Reeves, a spokesman for Xcel Energy, told EverythingLubbock.com crews worked overnight and most service was restored to customers affected by Saturday morning.

A few areas west of Ralls and in Crosbyton were still without power Saturday and crews were still making repairs.

Reeves said the storm destroyed 22 power line structures and 20 cross arms. There was 20 spans of line down in one area, with wire blown 300 yards from our right of way.

The National Weather Service was expected to survey the storm damage on Saturday.
