Young woman killed in West Lubbock crash

LUBBOCK, Texas — EMS and Lubbock Police responded to a deadly crash at 50th Street and Milwaukee Avenue Monday afternoon at about 3:20. 

Several hours after the crash, police released the name of the victim. She was identified as Amber Canaday, 24.  


A pickup truck and a car collided.  Canaday was in the car.  

Police provided the following update on Monday evening:

A gray Ford Focus, driven by Amber Canaday, 24, was south bound on Milwaukee Ave. and was stopped in the left hand center turn lane to go west on 50th St.  A Ford F-250 pickup truck traveling north bound drifted into the center turn lane and collided head -on with the Ford Focus. The driver of the Focus died at the scene. The front passenger in the Focus was taken to UMC by personal vehicle with moderate injuries. The driver of the Ford F-250 was not injured.

Detectives from the Major Crash Unit are investigating the crash.
