The following is a news release from Landtroop Strategies:
The YWCA of Lubbock recently completed the purchase of the former Kmart building at University and the South Loop. The move came as part of a strategic plan to consolidate operations and expand services in the YWCA signature programs of childcare and youth services, health and fitness, and community outreach. This move will restore activity and revitalize an important corridor in our growing community.
“The YWCA is very eager to launch the project and turn this corner into a thriving hub for kids and families,” noted YWCA of Lubbock CEO Glenda Mathis. “The support from the community for this effort is gratifying. People are genuinely excited to see the transformation of a vacant, abandoned space into a beautiful thriving environment. We look forward to the new vitality, expanded services, and opportunity to meet the growing needs of Lubbock more efficiently.”
“This move is so exciting for the Board, membership and community of Lubbock,” added YWCA of Lubbock Board Chairwoman Mitzi Ziegner. “We are grateful to our many community partners working with us to make big dreams like this one possible. Just as with the J.T. and Margaret Talkington YWCA at Sun ‘n Fun, this project will change the landscape of our community and make a positive difference for generations to come!”
