For three decades the YWCA of Lubbock has been recognizing and celebrating women in our community that have achieved excellence in their careers and professions, making contributions to business, arts, medicine, science, government, education, community service and professional occupations. These women are an example of true leadership and are a positive influence and inspiration to so many, empowering women across the South Plains.
Each year the recipients of the YWCA of Lubbock’s “Women of Excellence” award are recognized and celebrated at an elegant dinner; past recipients include some familiar names including Windy Sitton, Renee Underwood, Evelyn Davies, Louise Hopkins Underwood and many more. To date 242 women in Lubbock and surrounding communities have been recognized.
“Women of Excellence” is just one of many YWCA of Lubbock projects held each year. This year’s “Women of Excellence” celebration will mark a significant milestone, 30 years. Nominations will be accepted through 5 p.m. on November 1, 2017 at www.ywcalubbock.org .
