Local Porsche Club Presents Donation to Humane Society of West Texas

The West Texas Region Porsche Club of America donated $2,000 on Saturday to the Humane Society of West Texas (HSWT) as part of a special fundraising event. Porsche for Paws is a unique local event that is the culmination of several fundraisers that ends with a group drive.

Members of the auto group met at the HSWT office at 5106 Avenue T at 11 a.m. on Saturday for the check presentation. They then continued on a group drive to Matador.

Will Carter, local Porsche Club president, is the organizer of the event.

“We recognize and support the wonderful work the HSWT does for abandoned and abused ‘paws’ in our community. Our club’s mission goes beyond enhancing the joys of owning a Porsche and support local agencies that enhance our community’s life,” Carter said.

Cat and dog adoptions are held each weekend at the PetSmart on Slide Road. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, all vaccines and necessary medical testing.

The HSWT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-run local organization, funded through donations. The organization receives no funds from taxes, animal shelters, or national humane societies. The mission of the HSWT is to find safe, loving and permanent homes for all the animals in the area.
