A group of therapists at the South Plains Rehabilitation Center launched a wheelchair dodgeball program here in Lubbock this past October.
The group meets once a month at the Texas Tech Rec Center to play with others.
The volunteers play in a wheelchair or support the game in other ways such as refereeing or keeping the balls in play.
The group is asking for participants and volunteers to take part in the activities. At the moment, the group doesn’t have quite the number of participants for a full game.
Organizers say it’s a great way to foster a positive environment for people with spinal cord injuries, along with the family and friends.
