Residents on the South Plains could see localized flooding Monday evening.
Dimmit received 2-and-a-half inches Monday afternoon. The storms are making their way toward Lubbock.
KAMC Storm Team Meteorologist Ron Roberts said winds of 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail are possible. For some, an inch of rain could fall. For others it will be more like a quarter of an inch.
“Watch for things like lightning strikes,” Roberts said. “If you hear thunder roar, go indoors.”
Roberts said, “There are more fatalities in the summer from lightning than from any other weather event.”
The Storm Team forecast calls for hot conditions to return later in the week. The hottest weekend of the year is forecast for July 25 and 26.
