The Lubbock Police Department announced Friday an arrest was made in one of the sexual assaults that was reported in the Dunbar Manhattan Heights neighborhood.
According to Lubbock Police, 17-year-old Tyzavier Caraway was arrested Friday on a sexual assault charge.
“We want citizens to continue to remain vigilant, to continue to look out for each other, and report any suspicious activity or any suspicious predators that could still be out there,” Lieutenant Ray Mendoza said.
Police said on September 28, a sexual assault was reported to police.
According to police, the suspect entered the home through a kitchen window. Officers were able to gather DNA evidence from the scene and submit it to DPS for testing.
On December 18, Lubbock Police said they had a potential suspect, but were unable to make contact with him until January 6. That is when police said they were able to speak with the suspect, and gather DNA evidence from the suspect.
On January 22, police said the DPS lab confirmed that Caraway was the contributor to the DNA they had already submitted in this case.
Now, police are also continuing to investigate the other sexual assaults and attempted sexual assaults that were reported to police over the last few months.
“We’re going to submit whatever evidence is on those scenes and try to see if it matches this particular suspect,” Mendoza said.
