Lubbock Police arrested Eldon Georgdon Gatewood, 26, and Alfonzo Rashad Jackson, 26, both of Lubbock, after the two men sped off in their vehicle and ended with a crash into a building Thursday evening.
“Special Operations investigators set up a meeting to buy what they believed to be a stolen firearm from a suspect,” Lubbock Police said. “The suspect agreed to meet with the investigators in the area of 52nd Street and Avenue T to sell the firearm.”
Police tried to arrest two suspects who were in a car.
“The suspects sped away through parking lots and struck the Estrellas Restaurant causing significant structural damage,” police said.
The two ran from the car but were caught a short time later.
Gatewood was charged with theft of a firearm, evading, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Jackson was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, evading, theft of a firearm and unlawful carrying of a firearm.
Both were held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on Friday.
