On Monday, May 23, 2016, investigators were notified that joggers had found a possible human bone.

Investigators responded to that scene and took custody of what they believe to be a human bone.

They were then led to Clapp Park, 4502 Ave U as the original location where it was found. Crime scene investigators have been searching the area for additional remains.

Today, Thursday, May 26, 2016 they enlisted the assistance of the Lubbock Fire and Rescue dive team to search a playa lake in the park.

This is an active investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available. The Lubbock Police Department urges anyone with information about this case to call Crime Line at 741-1000.
