The SPARTAN taxpayer watchdog group announced a meeting at Lubbock City Hall on Monday, November 14 at 6:30 p.m.  The meeting was described as a way to protest, and it will concern certain issues with Lubbock Power & Light along with the water, wastewater and storm water departments.

“This meeting is a rare opportunity to get your concerns addressed,” SPARTAN said in an email. 

“Issues include over $30 million in hidden utility taxes, proposed very expensive problematic smart meters, overcharging for water usage, billing and customer service problems and continued excessive storm water charges,” the email also said.

Several LP&L and City officials will be on hand to listen to customers and answer questions, according to the email.

In response to MANY complaints about ever increasing LP&L bills, including water, wastewater and storm water departments, a meeting will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday, November 14 at City Hall at 1625-13th Street.  There will be several LP&L and City officials & up to 3 City Council members there to listen to customers and answer questions.

Issues include over $30 million in hidden utility taxes, proposed very expensive problematic smart meters, overcharging for water usage, billing and customer service problems and continued excessive storm water charges.  This meeting is a rare opportunity to get your concerns addressed.  Even if you don’t choose to speak, just being there will be very helpful to encourage policy makers to lessen the huge financial burden on all Lubbock families and businesses.
