Lubbock Power and Light responded to reports of an individual posing as an LP&L employee going door to door.

The following statement was issued by spokesman Matt Rose.

“LP&L has been made aware of the situation surrounding an individual allegedly impersonating LP&L employees in order to gain access to customers’ homes and we are working closely with the Lubbock Police Department as they conduct their investigation.  We want our customers to be aware of the fact that LP&L employees will never seek to enter a customer’s home in any situation.  LP&L’s responsibility is to maintain electrical service up to a customer’s meter and any electrical service on the customer’s side of the meter, including the wiring inside of their home, is out of the purview of LP&L.  If someone approaches you and asks to come inside of your home, even if they appear to be wearing an LP&L or  City of Lubbock uniform, you should deny them access and immediately call the Lubbock Police Department with their description.”
