Emergency crews responded to a home on 2nd Street near Norwich, after a report of a shooting.
It was believed that a man was having “some kind of medical episode where he was hallucinating,” said Lieutenant Bryan Taylor, with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived on scene shortly after 7:15 Friday night.
Taylor said the man left his house and forced entry into a neighbor’s residence. He said the two did not know each other.
The intruder was armed with multiple knives, and was shot by the homeowner, according to Taylor.
The homeowner shot the man, and hit him once, Taylor said. The knife-wielding man, who’s identity was not immediately available, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
After being released from the hospital, “he’s going to jail,” Taylor said.
EMS confirmed one person was transported to a local hospital.
The investigation remained active Friday evening.
