The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office blocked off traffic along F.M. 400 near County Road 5400 in Northeast Lubbock County Wednesday afternoon. Deputies, a DPS helicopter and EMS responded to the area before 1:00 p.m.
Randy Truett, 62, was arrested after a SWAT standoff with LSO.
LSO said there was a report of a grass fire near a house and passers-by stopped to tell the homeowner. LSO reported the owner met them with a gun and fired more than once.
There were no serious injuries reported. LSO said the fire seemed to have burned itself out by the time officers arrived.
LSO said, at a minimum, Truett will be charged with aggravated assault.
LSO identified Truett as the homeowner and Lubbock Central Appraisal District records confirmed the he owns the home at the location in question.
