Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to a home in the 7500 block of 84th Street late Wednesday afternoon.
So far there are no reports of people being injured but there was a report that one or two pets might have been in the house at the time. Lubbock Animal Control Services also responded and an ACS officer was seen going into the home with a body bag.
On Thursday morning, LFR issued an update with a few more details:
On Wednesday afternoon at 4:29 p.m., Lubbock Fire Rescue was notified of a possible structure fire at 7510 84th. The resident reported that when she got home and opened the front door the house was full of smoke. Units arrived on scene at 4:33 p.m. and had the fire out at 4:38 p.m. Fire damage was confined to the room of origin but the entire house suffered heavy smoke damage. Two dogs perished in the fire and one occupant was displaced. The Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate and ruled the fire accidental with an undetermined cause. Units were clear of the scene at 5:28 p.m.
