The American dream of homeownership is alive and well in Lubbock, according to Lubbock Association of Realtors (LAR)  President Rusty DeLoach. In  recent visits to both the Texas Capitol and Washington, D.C., LAR members met with Lubbock and Texas representatives to ensure Texans will continue to achieve this goal.

“Our representatives are very receptive to our legislative priorities that assist in protecting private property rights,” DeLoach said.

This is one of the most successful legislative sessions for the Texas Association of Realtors, including increasing the homestead exemption from $15,000 to $25,000 and getting a constitutional amendment on the ballot that would permanently ban a transfer and sales tax on real estate.

“This is a benefit for both current homeowners and those with that desire,” DeLoach said. “We urge voters to vote in favor of this amendment on the November 3rd ballot.”

Speaking on current market conditions, DeLoach added, “It’s an excellent time to buy or sell because the inventory shortage has helped spur a modest increase in sales prices and with interest rates continuing to be very low, it’s a great time to be a buyer as well. Pure and simple – we’ve got it good in Lubbock, and if you’re considering making a move, now is the time to get in touch with a Lubbock realtor.”
