Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic Receives $5,000 Grant

Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic of Lubbock has received a $5,000 grant from the Lubbock Area Foundation (LAF) to fund pharmacy assistance and laboratory services as well as nebulizers for our unfunded pediatric patients.

Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic is a nonprofit organization that has been operating for 76 years in the Lubbock community to meet the health care needs of the underserved children of Lubbock and the surrounding counties.  Our mission is to provide quality, low cost comprehensive primary health care to the medically underserved children of Lubbock and surrounding communities without regard to race, color, sex, national origin, or parent’s ability to pay. Over the years, the scope of services has expanded to meet the changing needs of our patients. Yet, one thing has remained constant throughout the years is LCHC’s dedication to the children of Lubbock and the surrounding communities.

The Lubbock Area Foundation Grant will be used to purchase prescriptions, pay for laboratory tests, and provide nebulizers for home treatment of respiratory conditions for children that do not have health insurance.  “As a clinic that sees all children regardless of a parent’s ability to pay, this funding will

enable us to provide medicine, obtain laboratory testing, and provide a nebulizer as needed for the children we see that do not have health insurance.  Funds will be used for some of our children with chronic conditions such as asthma to have the medication they need to manage their asthma and a nebulizer for home treatment as well as allow our providers to order laboratory tests to help with a child’s healthcare plan. This funding will help us meet the needs of our unfunded children” according to Sue Hill, Executive Director, for Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic.

Lubbock Area Foundation is the community foundation for the entire South Plains and exists to help people who care about the Lubbock area to invest –at any level- in its future.  The Foundation provides an easy and effective way for generous people to create permanent charitable endowments for the benefit of this area.  Grants are awarded from endowments based on the interests of the donor or through an open competitive process that is responsive to the changing needs of the community.

Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic is accepting patients at its two pediatric clinics located in North and East Lubbock.  For more information on Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic or how you can support our community efforts please call Sue Hill at 749-3803 or visit our web site at lubbockchildrenshealthclinic.org.
