The Lubbock Christian School (LCS) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce their appointment of Tye Rogers as the school’s first president, replacing Superintendent Peter Dahlstrom, who is retiring this summer.  Mr. Rogers will commence his responsibilities beginning with the 2016/2017 school year.

After a comprehensive search led by the LCS Presidential Search Committee, Rogers was an obvious choice to be the spiritual, academic, and visionary leader to continue building on the great successes and momentum at LCS.  Rogers brings 28 years of impressive results and experience from his varied educational leadership, and he is no stranger to LCS, having graduated as a student athlete and serving LCS from 1989 through 1993 as the head girls’ basketball coach.  An inspirational and servant leader, Rogers’ broad educational experience and love of Christian education is expected to foster excellence for all facets of the LCS school community.

“First and foremost, I believe in the need for, and the value of Christian education,” said Tye Rogers. “I care deeply about the people and see education as a way to fulfill God’s purpose and will in my life.  I believe in education and the vital impact it has in shaping young students into Christ-like adults.”

Rogers joins LCS from the Plainview Independent School District where he served as the Plainview High School Principal. His passion for helping students visualize greater personal accomplishment fueled systemic changes in PHS.  His initiatives have resulted in steady improvements in a developing drive for excellence within individual students and the culture within the high school that will have far reaching impact on those students and the communities in which they live for years to come.

Rogers began his career as a classroom educator and coach, and then became an administrator when he was appointed as the Assistant Principal for Frenship Middle School in Wolfforth, Texas. A Lubbock native, Rogers holds an AA Degree from York College, and a BSE, a M.Ed., and Superintendent Certification from Lubbock Christian University.

Rogers’ appointment as LCS President will mark a significant change for the school, as the 21-year veteran superintendent Peter Dahlstrom retires. Dahlstrom has consistently raised academic expectations and accomplishment during his tenure, with graduates fully prepared for higher education, as evidenced by their acceptance at a variety of prestigious universities.  Additionally, Dahlstrom has increased the infrastructure and upgraded the school facilities through three successful capital campaigns, bringing new academic buildings, new opportunities for competitive athletics, and new facilities for those programs.  He has also assembled an excellent team of faculty and staff who together, have created a rigorous educational culture infused with an authentic spiritual focus.

According to Brian Pitaniello, LCS Board President, “Our committee led an exhaustive national search and had a strong pool of candidates. Tye emerged as the right leader for our organization. We know he will be able to successfully lead the team, serve our families and execute on LCS priorities including finishing our building campaign and challenging us to continually pursue academic excellence.”

As the oldest private school in the greater Lubbock area, Lubbock Christian School (LCS) began serving families in 1954. The initial classes on the current campus were held in 1958, and the Class of 1965 was the first to graduate from Lubbock Christian High School.  No church governs or subsidizes Lubbock Christian School, although the school was founded and is directed by members of Churches of Christ. LCS offers classes for Pre-kindergarten through 12th grades. The school is fully accredited through AdvancEd and the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC), which is fully approved and recognized by the Texas Education Agency.  LCS welcomes families of all faiths and admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.
