After two decades of extraordinary leadership as Superintendent of Lubbock Christian School, Peter H. Dahlstrom has announced that he will retire following the 2015/2016 academic school year. His announcement comes a year before he plans to exit so that the school board has time to plan and implement the best search process to secure the next superintendent for the school.
Lubbock Christian School has thrived under Mr. Dahlstrom’s leadership. In recent years the school has witnessed record enrollment, financial security, erection of new facilities and increased standardized test scores with 95% of all Lubbock Christian School graduates going on to higher education and professional careers. This is directly reflective of the guidance that Dahlstrom has provided and a glimpse to the vision he has worked towards throughout his career at the school.
“There are no words to adequately describe the impact that Peter Dahlstrom has had on the students and the community of Lubbock Christian School. Peter has played a vital role in the changes to the campus, the increase in enrollment, and the wonderful reputation we have in our community; however, it will be the spiritual leadership that he provided to the students and the faculty that will have the biggest impact on the future of LCS,” said Brian Pitaniello, Chairman of the School Board of Trustees.
“I have complete confidence in the leadership of this school, in all of its kinds of leadership, regarding the future,” states Peter Dahlstrom. “Most of all, I know that this is God’s work, started by faithful people, nurtured by the same, and that faithful people will always answer the call to keep LCS strong. My prayers and support and effort will also always be directed toward her success in the future.”
This year, Dahlstrom received national recognition when he was awarded the prestigious Vaughn Luster Award as the outstanding administrator of a member school of the National Christian School Association (NCSA) at its annual meeting. The award is voted on by the heads of the member schools of the National Christian School Association. NCSA President, Philip Patterson, cited Dahlstrom’s work in increasing the enrollment of LCS, raising both faculty salaries and endowment, improving the physical plant and improving the impression of the school in the community.
As the oldest private school in the greater Lubbock area, Lubbock Christian School (LCS) began serving families in 1954. The initial classes on the current campus were held in 1958, and the Class of 1965 was the first to graduate from Lubbock Christian High School. No church governs or subsidizes Lubbock Christian School, although the school was founded and is directed by members of Churches of Christ. LCS offers classes for Pre-kindergarten through 12th grades. The school is fully accredited through AdvancEd and the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC), which is fully approved and recognized by the Texas Education Agency. LCS welcomes families of all faiths and admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.
