During their regularly scheduled meeting on June 25, the Lubbock-Cooper ISD Board of Trustees voted to appoint Danny Davis as Assistant Superintendent of the district, effective July 1.
Davis previously served five years as the Superintendent of Rankin Independent School District. He is a native of Throckmorton, and he holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
He has 16 years of experience in education at Throckmorton ISD and Rankin ISD, serving as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent. While head football coach in Throckmorton, Davis led two teams to the state semifinals, winning the 2005 Six-Man State Football Championship.
“I am excited to have someone with Danny’s experience take on this role with LCISD,” said Keith Bryant, Superintendent of Lubbock-Cooper ISD. “He brings confidence, enthusiasm, and wisdom to this position, and his skillset will benefit our district as we navigate the murky waters of school finance. He has been in charge of all aspects of operations within a district, and his expertise will allow us to approach situations from a seasoned perspective.”
Prior to his career in education, Davis owned a fuel distributorship in Throckmorton. He also served on the town’s city council and as president of the Throckmorton Chamber of Commerce. Davis and his wife of 28 years, Linda, have four daughters.
“Lubbock-Cooper is a great school district with an outstanding reputation,” said Davis. “I’m extremely excited as my family and I prepare to move to Lubbock. We’re looking forward to becoming Lubbock-Cooper Pirates.”
