A group of fourth grade students at Lubbock-Cooper Central Elementary School have become published authors at a young age. The students worked with instructors to write books under the guidance of a program called Write Brain. The program, which is available at no cost to students through the 21st Century Federal Grant ACE After School Program, assists the writing process by providing picture leads which stimulate a student’s individual writing flow.
Students wrote and edited their books with the assistance of instructors and fellow classmates, and received their completed hardback books as keepsakes. Students will read their books to special guests including Lubbock-Cooper representatives, parents, and other family members at 4:00 p.m. on November 7 at Lubbock-Cooper Central Elementary School. The public is invited to attend.
“We are thrilled to see our students evolve their stories from ideas to published, written books,” said Candice Cross, Principal of Central Elementary. “It is such an accomplishment and esteem builder for the students. The program has increased writing interest and ability among students.”
