Lubbock-Cooper ISD welcomes former Texas Tech University Head Men’s Tennis Coach Tim Siegel as the head boys and girls tennis coach for Lubbock-Cooper High School, Laura Bush Middle School, and Lubbock-Cooper Middle School. Siegel will be officially recommended for hire at the July 14 meeting of the LCISD Board of Trustees.

“Tim is a great addition to our tennis program and to the Pirate community,” said LCHS Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach Max Kattwinkel. “He brings expertise, teamwork, and leadership to our staff. We are all extremely excited to have the opportunity to work alongside Coach Siegel.”

Siegel played collegiate tennis at the University of Arkansas, where he was a two-time All-American and a three-time Southwest Conference singles champion. He later played professionally, reaching the third round of doubles at the U.S. Open and Australia Open and the second round of doubles at Wimbledon.

Prior to his career at Texas Tech University, Siegel was the assistant coach of the University of Arkansas tennis team, the head coach of the Southern Methodist University women’s tennis team and the assistant coach of the SMU men’s team. In addition to serving as the head coach of the Texas Tech University men’s tennis team, Siegel also served as the head coach of the Texas Tech women’s team from 1997-99. Siegel is a two-time Big 12 Coach of the Year recipient.

“I’m very excited to be the head coach for Lubbock-Cooper High School and Middle Schools,” said Siegel. “I’m excited to be part of the Pirate family. I have three children at LBMS and Central Elementary and I’m looking forward to being beside them.”

Siegel will begin on Aug. 25, the first day of the 2015-16 school year.
