Early Tuesday morning Lee Williams woke up to the sound of his motion detector alarm ringing. Williams said he rushed to his security cameras and saw a man in a black, Dodge pickup rummaging through his toolbox.
“So I ran down the stairs and by the time I got to the back gate to approach him, he was driving off,” Williams said.
Williams followed the man, but lost him in the neighborhood. The suspect got away with almost $500 worth of tools.
At this point, Williams and his wife are break-in experts.
“It’s been 12 times since Thanksgiving of last year,” Williams said.
Williams lives in Lakeridge off 92nd street. He said this theft was different than others. He said usually there are two or three men, not just one.
He said he has put up security cameras and motion detectors, hoping to catch them in the act. He has turned over all the information to LPD and filed a police report.
Williams said he plans to petition the Lakeridge Homeowner’s Association to hire a police officer to patrol the neighborhood.
