Lubbock Hotels Prepare For Their Busy Season as Texas Tech Football Returns

Texas Tech University officials said season ticket sales hit their second highest rate yet with this year’s football season.

The increase in sales is also impacting surrounding businesses.

Several Lubbock hotels told KLBK and EverythingLubbock.com the return of Red Raider football brings about one of their busiest seasons of the year.

“Live and die for it. It controls the weekends for months,” Courtyard Lubbock Downtown General Manager Erick Lewis said.

Lewis added that people start reserving their rooms a year in advance.

“As soon as the football season, the schedule is released people are online trying to book. So it really does happen that far in advance,” Lewis said.

The local bed and breakfast Woodrow House has ten rooms and said they will absolutely sell out for home games.

“It’s always busy. There’s always people coming and going and everything. There are sometimes when you can literally feel the energy from the stadium,” Woodrow House Inn Sitter Sara Yancy said.

Both Woodrow House and Courtyard Lubbock Downtown said they have available rooms for the first game of the season on September 3. However, they are already sold out of games later on in the season in October and November.

Texas Tech officials also said there are still opportunities to buy tickets. They added that a press conference will be held to discuss ticket sales tomorrow, August 31.
