[Thursday] morning, the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees named three new elementary principals. All three of the new campus leaders will be moving up from current positions within the district as assistant principals. Mary Jane Poormon, the assistant principal at Jayne Ann Miller will become the principal at Bowie Elementary. Amy Kimbley, the assistant principal at Overton will be the principal at Wester Elementary and Stacy Hurst, the assistant principal at Roberts will become the principal at Wright Elementary.
Poormon, a native of Post, Texas, has been with Lubbock ISD for 25 years. Her experience includes classroom teaching at the third- and fourth-grade level and service as magnet specialist. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Abilene Christian University and her Master of Education from Lubbock Christian University. Poormon told trustees she had been a student at Bowie when she moved to Lubbock in the second grade.
Kimbley, who comes from Phoenix, Arizona, also has 25 years of experience with Lubbock ISD. Her background includes first- through fourth-grade classroom teaching experience as well as service in the role of assistant principal at several LISD elementary campuses. She earned both her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies and her Master of Education from Texas Tech University. Kimbley was previously an assistant principal at Wester.
Hurst, who grew up in Abilene, has been with Lubbock ISD for the past 13 years. Her experience includes teaching at the third- fourth- and fifth-grade levels, service as an assistant principal and campus testing coordinator. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University and her Master of Education in Educational Administration from Lubbock Christian University.
