As part of the prelude to Super Bowl 50, Lubbock ISD is proud to announce it is home to three former Super Bowl players and three commemorative Wilson Golden Footballs through the National Football League’s (NFL) Super Bowl High School Honor Roll program.  Last fall, the NFL launched the initiative which recognizes schools and communities that contributed to Super Bowl history and positively impacted the game of football.  High schools around the nation have received commemorative Wilson Golden Footballs for every player or head coach who graduated from their school and was on an active Super Bowl roster.

The three players from Lubbock ISD are Dennis Gentry who graduated from Dunbar High School in 1977 and played for the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XX, Curtis Jordan who graduated from Monterey High School in 1972 and played for the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl XVII and E.J. Holub who graduated from Lubbock High School in 1957 and played for the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl IV.
