Eleven Lubbock ISD band, choir and orchestra students have recently earned all-state honors. Nine as determined by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), and two students from Estacado High School as recognized by the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB). The all-state performing groups represent the highest possible level of musical recognition in band, choir, and orchestra in the State of Texas.

The students will perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Clinic and Convention in San Antonio, February 8-11.

The impact on academic achievement among all-state musicians is also noteworthy. TMEA indicates Texas All-State musicians have consistently scored about 22 percent higher than the national average and about 25 percent higher than the Texas average when looking at SAT composite scores.
