Lemonade Day is returning to the Hub City on May 14th celebrating their 5th anniversary of creating hundreds of youth owned businesses across the South Plains on a single day!

The kickoff event takes place Wednesday, March 30th at 4:30pm at Title Sponsor First United Bank’s 5802 4th St. branch. Mayor Pro Tem Jim Gerlt will be issuing the City Proclamation recognizing Lubbock Lemonade Day for empowering area youth to start thousands of businesses to date. The Chamber will host a ribbon cutting welcoming the hundreds of new businesses to Lubbock in 2016 and both ‘dark’ and ‘light’ Lemi the Lemonheads will be there to promote this year’s theme ‘Lemon Wars: The Entrepreneur Awakens.’  Volunteers will be on hand to register area youth and sell Lemon Wars t-shirts. A special Lemonade Day toast will be lead by Ron Bonacci as prior City Champion Ron Betenbough passes the torch to United Supermarkets for 2016.

Lemonade Day is empowering tomorrow’s entrepreneurs by teaching them to start, own and operate their very own business – a lemonade stand. Learn more about how we helped create over 800 new young entrepreneurs last year by watching ‘Self Made with Lemonade,’ the story of 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=ArpkcWd8epg

Each child that registers for Lemonade Day receives a backpack with tools that help teach them how to start their own business – including how to set a goal, make a plan, secure a loan, create a product, work hard, provide good customer service, make a profit and give back to the community. Children keep all the money they earn and are encouraged to spend some, save some, and share some. Thousands of dollars were donated back to local Lubbock charities last year.
