Jaylon Sapp, 18, of Lubbock was indicted Tuesday for third-degree felony theft of livestock.

Perhaps more interesting, Sapp was also accused of leading officers on a chase while riding a stolen horse.

In January, a horse was seen tied up at the Cricket Court Apartments.  During about the same time period, a man reported his horse was stolen from a corral in South Lubbock.

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Department investigated.  Sapp was spotted on the horse near Lowrey Field.  He was accused of using the horse to try to get away.  The chase ended near South Q Drive and 61st Street.

Sapp was arrested, and the horse was returned. As of Tuesday evening Sapp remained in the Lubbock County Detention Center in lieu of bonds totaling $6,000.
